Which of your project or accomplishment stands out?

Tell us one project or work that you are really proud of?

Over the yrs in Fairfax County I have been fortunate to be part of many business critical applications. We were able to roll out all the applications I have worked on, on time and on budget despite of aggressive timeline. Two of my major projects that I was responsible for are Tax Portal and BPOL applications. Specially BPOL stands out more because it recently got acknowledged. I would like to mention something that happened recently, rather day before yesterday. During our regular monthly meeting with DTA, Maha who is the Director of business personal property, who will be retiring very soon, mentioned my name specifically and thanked our group for our work. These are her words. She said that in her 32 years of working with Fairfax County she considers BPOL application as highlight of her career and she is very happy that she saw this application see the light of the day. Since I was responsible for designing and rolling out this application from scratch right from inception stage, it was gratifying that she acknowledged our work. I felt extra motivated to do more good work and I would love to be part of rolling out many more such systems that can add value to the Fairfax county.

Why do you want to switch your job?

I feel that the requirements listed in the job seems more aligned with my long term career goals. I am also ready to take more responsibilities and aspire to take on more challenging role. This job will also give me an opportunity to expand my skill set.  My goal is to contribute in overall county business operation and add some value to Fairfax county citizens. With my area of expertise and my skill set I think I will be an asset to your department and I will be helpful to align the strategic vision of the department with IT.

Why should we hire you?

For starters, I have all the skills and experience listed in the job description, and I'm confident that I can make an immediate impact on your company. It's not just my background in leading successful projects for Fortune 500 companies, but also my passion for the industry that drives me to succeed. If chosen for this role, I will continue to deliver high-quality work for the continued success of your organization.

Looking at the requirement, the skill set and responsibilities that you guys are looking for in this position, I think I am good fit for that. It aligns with the skill set that I have to offer. As you might have seen in my resume most of my experience is in Government sector. Prior to joining Fairfax County, I worked with State of PA with various departments. And I am with Fairfax county for last 10 years doing similar work. That will make me a good candidate in terms of adjusting to the rule of the land and I believe I can give results pretty soon. I looked at Fire and Rescue website and I was really excited to see what fire and rescue department has to offer in public safety domain. I would be very excited to add some value if given a chance.

I am process oriented person geared more towards standardizing the process and document oriented. I will give you one of the examples that in one of my projects when we were trying to extract requirements, I quickly found that requirements were sitting in subject matter expert's head or in their local devices and sometimes they were lost in email exchange, and when it came to putting together the requirements, different people had to dig up their emails and try and find what was said when and by who. What I did is I created common platform in the form of SharePoint document which was accessible to all stakeholders as well as our team and that consolidated our business requirement. And this in turn made us technical folks and rest of the team it has one document where people can ask questions, add their comments or suggestions and go from there.

On budget, on time despite of aggressive timeline
